Hello Albany Aquatics Center Community,
The outdoor pool has been reopened. Both the indoor and outdoor pool are both functioning normally and we are resuming our normal schedule posted on the website effective immediately, the link to our schedule can be found below.
Thank you to everyone that still swam today in the indoor pool and were flexible with all user groups trying to share the space with each other. We appreciate you all during this time.
Why was the outdoor pool closed today?: When we checked the chemicals before opening, both the PH and the Chlorine levels were high and out of the legal range for opening. We contacted Aqua Source immediately for assistance with this issue. Aqua Source came out, fixed the issue, and waited to test the chemicals to ensure that the PH and Chlorine levels returned to a normal range for re-opening the pool this afternoon. They gave us clearance to reopen and we have since been monitoring the pool chemicals.
What was the issue?: Our acid tank was empty and needs to be refilled. We had already placed an order for this to be refilled, and we are still waiting on the order to be fulfilled. In the meantime, Aqua Source was able to fill up a smaller reservoir with acid to temporarily fix the problem. Our CPO on staff will be checking this reservoir every couple of days to see when it needs to be refilled and we will fill it as needed. This is a temporary solution while we are waiting for the main acid tank to be refilled.
How did the acid tank get so low so quickly?: Our CO2 tank is still empty and we have been waiting for it to be refilled for quite some time now. This has been empty and ordered since before the new management took over at the beginning of September. Because there is no CO2, we have been relying on the acid to regulate the PH in the pool.
Thank you for your understanding and patience with us during this time,
AAC Management
